|
Coskata's conversion process is efficient, affordable and flexible.
Efficient
- High yield – Coskata’s proprietary process extracts more energy from feedstocks than competitive production pathways. For example, our process can produce approximately 7 gallons of ethanol per mmBtu of natural gas and 100 gallons of ethanol per dry ton of softwood.
- Simple and energy-positive design – Coskata's process can produce significantly more energy than the external energy input used to make the end-product. Excess heat from the Coskata process is used to generate the steam necessary to drive distillation
Affordable
- Low operating costs – Coskata's proprietary microorganisms eliminate the need for costly enzymatic pretreatments. In addition, the syngas fermentation process occurs at low pressures and temperatures, reducing utility costs. At our commercial-scale facilities, we expect to achieve unsubsidized production costs of significantly less than production costs for existing transportation fuels such as gasoline, diesel and corn- and sugar-based ethanol.
- Low capital costs – Coskata has engineered its facility to include many proven unit operations such as wastewater treatment and end-product separation. This process is a continuous, low-heat, low-pressure process that enables better capital cost efficiencies than competitive processes.
Flexible
- Feedstock flexibility–Virtually any carbon-containing input materials can be converted to syngas, including natural gas, wood, municipal solid waste, agriculture residues, coal and industrial gases.
- Fully-integrated process solution – The Coskata platform technology is a complete, fully-integrated process solution, and can be delivered to joint venture projects and licensees anywhere in the world.
- Other products – In addition to fuel-grade ethanol, Coskata’s technology platform can also produce cost-competitive chemical intermediates.
